Appeal to stop proceeding the Law on Transparency of Public Life (reporting activities)

A group of 16 organization requested Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to withdraw from proceeding the law on transparency of public life.

Each of us sees different dangers brought by this law. They derive from the fact that the law was made without prior discussion, reflection and assumptions. On the way some amendments recommended by citizens were taken into account. However the process of consulting does not feet any formal framework.  The lobbyists from administration have more to say than citizens. Additionally, some information – without a reason – are reserved to secret service (therefore – against the law’s name ). Additionally, there is no justification for cancelling the existing access to information law (that regulates procedures connected with execution FOI as a human right) and incorporate it into the transparency law (which is focused only on corruption prevention).

To read on the most acute dangers discussed by the signatories of the letter, you can see the description on the website of the Citizens Observatory.
